Choosing a license

4Suite used a variant of the Apache 1.1. license. The main choice for the next generation came down to Apache 2.0, AFL and LGPL. We didn't want to ban people from making proprietary product as Akara derivatives, so that crossed out LGPL. AFL seems technically superior, but Apache 2.0 is far more widespread, and is also GPL 3.0-compatible. Here are some useful resources for making such choices.
